Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese tradition and a form of martial art, which dates back to the 12th century. It’s slow movements make it known to be a meditation in motion which is why it has be known to alleviate stress and anxiety as well as increase energy levels. It helps with balancing the yin (passive negative force) and yang (the active positive force) in the body. There are five different styles of Tai Chi, each with their own style:

Chen-style

  • The oldest style of Tai Chi
  • Alternative fast and slow moments
  • Bursts of power

Yang-style

  • Most popular and widely practiced style
  • Gives you a feeling of serenity

Wu- or Wu (Hao)-style

  • A lot of torso and internal movements
  • There is an importance of being still within and keeping calm

Wu-style

  • Distinctive hand forms
  • Jumping, grappling and pressure point leverage

Sun-style.

  • Smooth flowing movements
  • Gentle postures
  • High stances
